Guanajuato Health Ministry launches bereavement support for families of suicide victims

In Mexico’s state of Guanajuato, the Secretaría de Salud has introduced a post‑vention program offering specialized emotional support to relatives and close contacts of individuals who have died by suicide. The initiative, part of the State Program for Suicide Prevention and Care, establishes 19 Emotional Support Groups across 46 municipalities, operating through local hospitals and mental‑health centers. Trained psychologists provide first‑aid psychological assistance, counseling, and guidance on coping strategies, aiming to reduce the emotional impact of loss and identify persons at heightened risk for further mental‑health needs.
