Guanajuato honors 151 centenarians at state event
The Guanajuato state government and the state DIF organized the event ‘Historias Centenarias: Recetas para Vivir’ to honor residents aged 100 and older. The initiative has identified 151 centenarians across the state's 46 municipalities.
During the ceremony held at the State Convention Center, Governor Libia Dennise García Muñoz Ledo and other officials presented recognitions to the attendees. Among those honored were 107-year-old Juanita González from León and 103-year-old Isabel Garnica Díaz, who shared memories of living through historical events such as the 1926 floods and La Cristiada.
Officials emphasized that these individuals serve as the living memory and pillars of the state and country. The DIF has kept its call for reports open, encouraging the public to help locate more centenarians to ensure they receive proper attention and social support.
