Guanajuato hosts meeting to advance Mexican social tourism
The state of Guanajuato hosted the Fourth Ordinary Session of the Mexican Social Tourism Council to promote a more inclusive and accessible tourism model. The meeting, held ahead of the First Mexican Social Tourism Forum, focused on presenting five national commitments aimed at strengthening social tourism in Mexico by the end of 2026.
These commitments establish work lines for institutions, businesses, academia, and civil society to expand tourism access and reduce barriers related to economic, physical, or social conditions. María Guadalupe Robles León, Secretary of Tourism and Identity of Guanajuato and Vice President of the Council, emphasized that social tourism should serve as a tool for community participation and social well-being, moving beyond its purely economic dimension.
