Guanajuato implements new school regulations for 2026 cycle
Educational authorities in Guanajuato, Mexico, have introduced new regulations for the 2026–2027 academic cycle. The updates aim to enhance academic focus, digital safety, and student well-being across both public and private schools.
A key component of the new framework is the tiered regulation of mobile devices. Rather than implementing a total ban, schools will use a structured approach where electronic devices are permitted strictly for approved pedagogical purposes or specific emergencies. To maintain connectivity, schools are required to establish alternative communication channels for parents.
The academic year is scheduled to run from August 31, 2026, to July 8, 2027, totaling 185 school days. To support families, the state government is continuing social assistance programs, including the distribution of student kits containing backpacks and supplies, as well as expanded scholarship initiatives across 46 municipalities.
