Guanajuato reports nearly 6,000 missing persons

The search collective ‘Hasta Encontrarte’ reports that nearly 6,000 people are missing in the state of Guanajuato. Spokesperson Bibiana Mendoza criticized the State Attorney General's Office for its perceived indifference toward the issue, which affects thousands of families.

Mendoza noted that Guanajuato remains the state with the highest number of murdered searchers in Mexico. She called for greater transparency regarding the number of people detained, prosecuted, and sentenced for forced disappearance, arguing that much of the progress in locating individuals is due to the efforts of women risking their lives rather than official investigations.
