Guanambi launches free senior helpline and maternal mental‑health campaign

The municipality of Guanambi approved five new laws on 21 July, signed by Mayor Arnaldo Azevedo. Law 1.880 creates the "Voz Amiga 60+" program, a free telephone service that offers active listening, guidance and referral for people aged 60 or older who are isolated or experiencing psychological distress. Calls are free from any phone, confidentiality is guaranteed, and the service will be linked to local health and social‑assistance facilities.

Law 1.881 establishes a municipal awareness campaign for the "silent help" gesture, teaching a discreet hand signal that victims of violence can use to request assistance. Law 1.884 promotes maternal mental‑health initiatives, while another law bans municipal tax incentives for individuals convicted of sexual, psychological or domestic violence. A fifth law names a public street.

The "Voz Amiga 60+" program must be regulated within 90 days, defining the phone number, operating procedures and partnerships. The proposal originated from Councilor Cláudio Fiúza (Project 44/2026).
