Guangdong Home Electrical Fault Exposed by Hot Tile

A child walking barefoot in a house in Guangdong province noticed a single floor tile near the bathroom that felt unusually hot. Temperature measurements showed the tile's surface at 46.9 °C, while adjacent flooring remained around 31.7 °C.

The homeowner called an electrician, but the initial inspection reported no obvious problem. After removing the tile, technicians discovered severely damaged insulation on an underground power cable, deformed PVC conduit, and a copper core showing signs of scorching and wear. Experts warned that such hidden faults can cause overheating, arcing, and fire if not promptly repaired.

The incident highlights the risk of concealed electrical faults in residential buildings and underscores the importance of thorough inspection when localized heating is detected.
