Guangdong man suffers cerebral infarction due to dietary habits
A 51-year-old man in Guangdong, China, suffered a cerebral infarction, a type of stroke, while having dinner with his family. The incident occurred suddenly while he was talking, leading to immediate collapse and a state of deep coma.
He was rushed to the Third Affiliated Hospital of Sun Yat-sen University in Guangzhou. Dr. Wang Qijing, head of the cerebrovascular surgery department, stated that the patient's left cerebral hemisphere suffered severe swelling due to a large intracranial blood vessel blockage, requiring urgent surgery.
Although the thrombectomy surgery was successful in saving his life, the patient faces permanent consequences, including left-side paralysis and the need for long-term rehabilitation. Medical professionals noted that the patient's dietary habits, specifically a preference for heavy seasoning and high salt intake, were significant contributing factors to the damage to his vascular system.
