Guangdong regional sports: Football semi-finalists and Yue BA basketball All-Stars announced

Regional sports competitions in Guangdong have reached key milestones in both football and basketball. In the Guangdong City Football Super League (Yue Chao), Shenzhen, Meizhou, and Dongguan teams have secured spots in the semi-finals following the second leg of the quarter-finals. Shenzhen defeated Shanwei with a 3-0 aggregate score, while Meizhou overcame Foshan 5-1 on aggregate. Dongguan also advanced after a 3-2 aggregate victory against Zhanjiang.

In basketball, the 2026 Guangdong City Basketball League (Yue BA) All-Star Weekend concluded in Dongguan. The Yue BA East All-Star team claimed the championship after a narrow 75-73 overtime victory against Macau. The event marked a significant step in sports integration within the Greater Bay Area, as teams from Hong Kong and Macau participated for the first time. The tournament emphasized grassroots talent and local identity, featuring skill competitions and cultural displays from various Guangdong cities.
