Guangzhou advances computing and semiconductor sectors with new platform and Yuexin IPO
Guangzhou is advancing its digital and semiconductor infrastructure through new strategic initiatives. The city has officially established Guangzhou Computing Power Industry Development Co., Ltd., China’s first central-local joint venture platform focused on the synergy between computing power and electricity. Controlled by China Southern Power Grid Digital Grid Group and co-funded by partners including Guangdong Yixun Technology and Guangzhou Shuke Group, the company aims to lower enterprise computing costs by integrating energy, computing, and network resources.
In a related development for the region's high-tech sector, Yuexin Semiconductor has successfully listed on the ChiNext market, achieving a market value exceeding 120 billion yuan. Originally founded in 2017 with 1 billion yuan in investment from Guangzhou state-owned assets and private capital, the company has become a major manufacturer of 12-inch analog chips. Yuexin specializes in mature processes, serving the automotive and consumer electronics sectors, and is currently the only enterprise in mainland China capable of large-scale mass production of 12-inch silicon photonics wafers.
