Guarani FC evaluates R$ 1 billion SAF investment proposal

Guarani Futebol Clube is evaluating a massive investment proposal to transition into a Sociedade Anônima do Futebol (SAF). The proposal, presented by businessman Roberto Graziano of Grupo Magnum, involves up to R$ 1.075 billion in total investments. The initial phase includes R$ 750 million, with potential increases through incentives.

The project aims to modernize the club's infrastructure by constructing a new arena near Viracopos International Airport, a training center, and social club facilities. The proposed arena would initially hold 12,000 spectators, with plans for expansion up to 25,000. The plan also addresses obligations related to the Brinco de Ouro stadium, which was acquired by Grupo Magnum in a 2015 judicial auction.

While the financial scale is significant, some internal voices within the club have expressed skepticism regarding the necessity of the SAF model. Critics argue that the club possesses existing expertise in football management, specifically citing the historical success of figures like Beto Zini, and suggest that professionalizing the football department could be achieved without such a drastic structural change.
