GuaraníSat-2 to be launched as Paraguay's first fully national satellite

Paraguay is preparing for the October launch of GuaraníSat-2, the first satellite developed entirely within the country by national talent. This project, part of Phase II of the 'Paraguay al Espacio' initiative, marks a significant technological evolution for the nation.

Unlike the previous GuaraníSat-1, which received technical assistance from Japan, GuaraníSat-2 was designed, developed, and implemented by a team of more than 40 Paraguayan specialists and researchers. The project is supported by itti through a strategic alliance with the Paraguayan Space Agency (AEP), fostering cooperation between the public sector, academia, and private industry.

The initiative involves international collaboration with several key entities, including NASA’s Jet Propulsion Laboratory, the Mexican Space Agency, the National Autonomous University of Mexico, an Italian specialized firm, and Japanese cooperation via the Kyushu Institute of Technology and JICA. GuaraníSat-2 is intended to facilitate radio communications between the satellite and ground stations, supporting amateur radio communities.
