Guarapuava child dies after being shot in the head while playing video games

Matheus Lourenço Barbosa, a 9-year-old boy, died on Monday night after being shot in the head while playing video games at his home in Guarapuava, Paraná. The child had been hospitalized in intensive care at the University Hospital of Ponta Grossa, where brain death was confirmed. His family has authorized organ donation.

Authorities arrested the boy's 19-year-old uncle in flagrante. The suspect claimed he was playing with a weapon when the shot occurred and stated that he dropped the firearm after the discharge. Police noted contradictions in the testimonies provided by the suspect and a 16-year-old female present at the scene. While the weapon has not yet been located, officers found a .32 caliber ammunition capsule on the suspect, who admitted the firearm was in an irregular situation.
