Guaratiba: Elderly man assaulted during dispute with former son-in-law

A 64-year-old man, Artur Garcia Botelho, was assaulted in Guaratiba, Rio de Janeiro, during a dispute with his former son-in-law, Douglas de Araújo Alves. The victim reported that he went to the restaurant owned by Alves to confront him regarding defamatory statements made about his finances.

During the confrontation, which also involved Douglas's brother, Diego de Araújo Alves, the victim was struck with punches and kicks to the head, arms, and legs. Botelho reported losing consciousness during the attack. He received medical treatment at Samaritano Hospital, where he required ten stitches to his head, and has since filed a police report. The Civil Police are investigating the incident.
