Guarda Nacional Republicana conducts bullying awareness and national operations
The Guarda Nacional Republicana (GNR) has conducted various community and operational activities across Portugal. In Serpa, the GNR’s Criminal Prevention and Community Policing Section held an awareness session for children participating in summer workshops. The initiative, held in partnership with the Serpa Municipal Council and the Crescer Parents Association, focused on preventing bullying by teaching children to recognize intimidation, promote inclusion, and report violence.
In a separate weekly operational report covering July 31 to August 6, the GNR recorded 583 arrests nationwide. Notable offenses included 247 arrests for driving under the influence of alcohol and 125 for driving without a license. Law enforcement also seized over 53,000 doses of cocaine, 22 firearms, and various other narcotics. Additionally, traffic inspections identified 8,691 infractions, primarily driven by speeding and vehicle inspection failures.
