Guardia Civil arrests man after 1 million euro yacht theft in Balearic Islands

A 52-year-old man was arrested following a high-speed maritime and aerial pursuit in the Balearic Islands after stealing a luxury yacht valued at over 1 million euros. The vessel was stolen from a rental company based in the Port of Sóller, Mallorca.

Using GPS tracking provided by the rental company, the Guardia Civil located the yacht near the island of Tagomago, close to Ibiza. The pursuit lasted more than 30 minutes and involved two police boats and a helicopter. The suspect, who was accompanied by a woman on board, attempted to evade authorities through various maneuvers before eventually surrendering.

The suspect faces charges of boat theft, attacking authority, and disobedience. The yacht was cleaned and returned to its owners after the suspects had used it to host a party.
