Galicia police arrest man for firearm threats and recover illegal weapons
Authorities in Galicia have conducted several high-profile arrests involving violence and illegal substances. In Nigrán, the Guardia Civil arrested a 43-year-old man for making firearm threats against his partner and minor children. During the investigation, officers recovered a .38 caliber revolver, a 6.35 caliber firearm, ammunition, and approximately 10 grams of cocaine hidden in a wooden box in a wooded area.
Separately, a 43-year-old motorcyclist was detained in Las Palmas de Gran Canaria after fleeing a police checkpoint, colliding with three vehicles, and being found with 120 grams of cocaine.
In the Pontevedra region, a series of violent crimes, including several matricides, has sparked urgent calls for better mental health resources. Families of victims have highlighted a lack of institutional control and medical support for patients with severe psychiatric disorders, noting a pattern of violence occurring when patients lack proper medication or supervision.
