Guardia Civil arrests three for stealing 900kg of copper in Soria

The Guardia Civil in Soria has arrested three individuals for the alleged theft of approximately 900 kilograms of copper cabling. The incident occurred on the morning of Saturday, August 22, during a routine alcohol and drug checkpoint conducted by the Arcos de Jalón Traffic Detachment on the N-II highway near Medinaceli.

Officers became suspicious of a passenger vehicle after noticing its rear suspension was significantly lowered, indicating a heavy load. Upon inspection, agents discovered a large quantity of uninsulated copper wiring distributed throughout the vehicle and partially concealed under blankets and clothing. The occupants were unable to provide documentation regarding the origin of the material. Following the intervention, the owner of the material was located and filed a formal complaint for the theft.
