Guardia Civil begins Institutional Week in Cádiz

The Guardia Civil has launched its Institutional Week in Cádiz, marking the festivities for its patron saint, the Virgen del Pilar. The event commenced with a flag-raising ceremony at the Plaza de España in front of the Monument to the Constitution of 1812, presided over by Lieutenant General Manuel Llamas.

The ceremony featured a historical representation of various Spanish national banners, ranging from the Royal Pendon of the Catholic Monarchs to the first banner of the Guardia Civil from 1854. The event included a military parade with participation from the Guardia Civil, the Army, and the Navy.

The week-long program in Cádiz includes various public activities such as the exhibition ‘La Guardia Civil al servicio de la ciudadanía’ at the Baluarte de la Candelaria, workshops, sports races, concerts, and the eighth edition of the ‘Ciberliga’ cybersecurity competition for students. The festivities are scheduled to continue until October 4th.
