Guardia Civil conducts anti-poaching operations in León
The Guardia Civil has conducted four separate operations against poaching in the province of León, Spain, resulting in one arrest, two ongoing investigations, and four individuals identified for administrative sanctions. The operations took place in Sopeña de Curueño, Rodanillo, La Valdería, and La Cabrera.
In Rodanillo, Seprona agents intercepted a four-wheel-drive vehicle on a forest track. Inside, they found two occupants with a rifle equipped with a telescopic sight and a thermal monocular. The use of thermal vision is strictly prohibited under Castilla y León hunting regulations for roe deer stalking.
Other seized items across the various operations included silencers, night vision devices, a bow, and a deer head. In Sopeña de Curueño, the intervention followed reports from a resident regarding gunfire heard in the area.
