Guardia Civil destroys Spanish Civil War projectile in León

The Guardia Civil has successfully conducted a controlled destruction of a 90mm breaking projectile dating back to the Spanish Civil War. The artifact was discovered by a citizen in an isolated area within the municipality of Puebla de Lillo, in the province of León.

Due to the difficult terrain and the nature of the object, the Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EDEX) team from the León Command was activated. Specialists were transported to the site via helicopter to manage the intervention and transport necessary equipment. Upon inspection, experts confirmed the projectile still contained its fuse. After implementing safety protocols, the device was moved to a secure location and destroyed to eliminate any public risk.
