Guardia Civil foils stabbing, fights wildfire‑zone robberies in Spain

In Roquetas de Mar, Almería, a Guardia Civil patrol intervened just as a man was about to strike another with a broken bottle. The rapid action prevented a potentially serious injury. The suspect had robbed the same victim the previous night, and officers seized knives and cutter blades before arresting him on charges of attempted assault with a dangerous instrument and robbery with violence.

Guardia Civil spokesperson Mercedes Martín later said the force has received numerous alerts from residents in areas evacuated due to wildfires, particularly in the Community of Madrid. The alerts warned of possible looting as displaced people return to their homes. The Guard is increasing patrols, coordinating with local police and civil protection, and will file theft complaints once any robberies are confirmed.
