Guardia Civil intensifies emergency coordination in Almería
The Guardia Civil’s Operational Services Center (COS) in Almería has significantly increased its activity during the summer season. As the province’s command and control hub, the center operates 24/7 to manage the surge in population driven by tourism and local festivities.
Data indicates a 14% increase in emergency calls to the 062 number during the summer months. Additionally, the management of Séneca files has risen by 11%, while coordination with other emergency agencies, alarm centers, and services has grown by more than 12%.
The COS is responsible for coordinating responses with various entities, including 112, 061, and Maritime Rescue. It also manages specialized support such as bomb disposal units, helicopters, and mountain rescue teams. The center maintains heightened focus on sensitive areas, including gender-based violence through coordination with Centro Cometa and the VioGén system, as well as monitoring increased wildfire risks.
