Guardia Civil investigates thefts by domestic workers in Spain
The Guardia Civil is investigating two separate incidents involving the theft of valuables by domestic workers in Spain.
In Finestrat, authorities recovered a lot of jewelry valued at over 60,000 euros. The theft occurred after a domestic worker, hired through an internet platform, allegedly stole the items from a residence and sold them to a specialized gold trading business before abruptly resigning. The stolen goods were located in a business in the province of Seville and have been returned to the owners.
In Selaya, Cantabria, a 40-year-old woman is under investigation for the alleged theft of a 100-year-old gold chain and two limited-edition dolls from an 80-year-old woman she was caring for. Investigators determined the suspect allegedly used her access to the home and a breach of trust to take the items. This case is part of the Plan Mayor Seguridad, a program aimed at improving security and prevention for the elderly.
