Guardia Civil rescues 67-year-old trapped for two days in Jaén arroyo
A 67‑year‑old resident of Arroyo del Ojanco in Jaén fell into a riverbed on Thursday afternoon while walking near the village. He attempted to walk out but the steep, inaccessible terrain forced him to remain trapped, and he spent more than two days in the arroyo, suffering contusions, exhaustion and exposure to high temperatures.
On Saturday night a neighbor heard his cries for help and alerted the Guardia Civil. A patrol from the Beas de Segura post arrived, found the man disoriented and severely weakened about 200 m from the town, and, with the assistance of several local residents who improvised a rope‑and‑sheet lifting system, extracted him from the difficult terrain. He was taken to the Hospital de Alta Resolución de la Sierra de Segura for medical treatment.
