Guardia Civil rescues injured eagle in Casas de Don Pedro, Spain
Civil Guard agents patrolling the area of Casas de Don Pedro discovered a perciera (Spanish imperial) eagle trapped in the Canal de la Dehesa. The bird was exhausted and had a wing injury, unable to free itself. Officers lowered a basket into the waterway, retrieved the eagle without further harm, and provided immediate first aid on site.
The injured raptor was then transferred to the AMUS wildlife recovery centre, where specialists will treat the wound and aim to rehabilitate the bird for eventual release back into its natural habitat. The rescue highlights the role of the Guardia Civil and wildlife organisations in protecting emblematic Iberian species.
