Guardia Civil rescues two hikers in Alto Tajo

The Guardia Civil has rescued two hikers, a 61-year-old man and a 58-year-old woman, after they became disoriented in a difficult-to-access area of the Alto Tajo in Vega del Codorno, Cuenca.

The incident began on September 20 when emergency services received an alert regarding the lost pair in the Los Eustaquios area. While authorities located the hikers' vehicle using provided coordinates, the steep terrain and low visibility prevented a successful search during the night.

On the following morning, search agents traveled over 5 kilometers through steep, mountainous terrain to locate the hikers. Both individuals were found in good health, though they exhibited mild symptoms of dehydration. The hikers reported that they had lost their way while attempting to follow a digital route track provided by a friend.
