Guardia Civil seizes 146 kg of illegal scampi in Cariño
The Guardia Civil Maritime Service in A Coruña has issued an administrative complaint against a 63-year-old man from Burela following the seizure of 146.5 kilograms of illegal scampi. The incident occurred on August 6 at the port of Cariño.
According to authorities, the individual was observed unloading 16 boxes and two plastic crates from a fishing vessel at the local fish market. The cargo was reportedly moved through the facility and loaded into a vehicle via a different access point. While traveling toward A Coruña, the driver was stopped at a checkpoint, where officials discovered the scampi lacked the mandatory traceability documentation required by fishing regulations.
The seized seafood was donated to the Banco de Alimentos Rías Altas de A Coruña, and the case has been reported to the competent administrative fishing authorities.
