Guardia di Finanza celebrates Saint Matthew in Perugia and Ragusa

Religious ceremonies were held in Perugia and Ragusa to honor Saint Matthew, the patron saint of the Guardia di Finanza and the Order of Chartered Accountants.

In Perugia, the Basilica of San Pietro hosted a mass officiated by Archbishop Ivan Maffeis. The event included military authorities, representatives from the National Association of Finance Officers (ANFI), and musical performances. General Francesco Mazzotta, the regional commander for Umbria, noted the connection between the mission of the Guardia di Finanza and fundamental values such as the fight against tax evasion.

In Ragusa, the celebration took place at the Cathedral of San Giovanni Battista, presided over by Bishop Giuseppe La Placa. The ceremony highlighted the historical link to Saint Matthew, who was a tax collector before his calling. Attendees included provincial civil and military authorities, as well as the president of the Order of Chartered Accountants and Accounting Experts, Michelangelo Aurnia. Colonel Gianbattista Vismara, the provincial commander of the Guardia di Finanza in Ragusa, emphasized the corps' role in protecting economic legality and collective interests.
