Guardia di Finanza officer struck by fleeing driver in Morimondo

On the morning of Thursday, August 27, 2026, a driver fleeing a Guardia di Finanza checkpoint in Morimondo struck a finance officer with a vehicle before fleeing toward the province of Pavia.

During a routine patrol around 8:00 AM on the SS526, officers attempted to stop a suspicious Seat Cupra Leon, which was later identified as a rental car. The driver, described as a man of North African origin, refused to stop and accelerated, hitting one of the officers. The injured officer was transported to the hospital; while he struck his head on the asphalt, medical professionals have indicated that his injuries are not life-threatening.

Law enforcement has launched a pursuit, utilizing license plate readers to track the vehicle. The suspect reportedly traveled through Casorate Primo and Trovo, moving the search area from the Abbiatense region toward Bereguardo and Battuda. As of the latest reports, the driver remains at large.
