Guardia di Finanza seizes 11,000 unsafe toys in Rosignano Marittimo

The Guardia di Finanza has seized over 11,000 unsafe items and toys during an inspection of a daily market in Rosignano Marittimo, Italy. The operation was conducted by the Cecina company as part of economic territory controls.

Among the seized items were “Ravioli Squishy” or “Dumpling Squishy” stress toys. Investigations revealed that the product labels lacked Italian language warnings and the mandatory CE marking required for the European market. A check through the European Commission’s “Safety Gate” rapid alert system confirmed that the specific lot of “Ravioli Squishy” had been flagged for posing serious mechanical and chemical risks to children, including potential choking hazards from detachable parts and exposure to unauthorized substances.

Authorities have carried out administrative seizures of the toys and other non-compliant products. Business owners face administrative sanctions of up to 30,000 euros for violations of consumer safety codes.
