Guardia Nacional member dies in Quintana Roo motorcycle accident

Yatziri Jiménez Lezama, a 23-year-old member of the Guardia Nacional, died following a motorcycle accident on the Mérida-Cancún highway in Quintana Roo. The incident occurred Monday night near the Maya Train bridge close to the airport.

Preliminary reports indicate that Jiménez Lezama was traveling on a motorcycle with a male companion when the driver allegedly lost control, causing both occupants to be thrown onto the pavement. While emergency responders and Guardia Nacional personnel arrived at the scene, they confirmed the young woman had already passed away due to her injuries. Her companion sustained serious injuries and was transported to a hospital in delicate condition.

Authorities are investigating whether excessive speed contributed to the fatal crash, though the exact circumstances remain under investigation.
