Guardia Nacional reports high daily accident rates in Querétaro

The National Guard in Querétaro reports handling between eight and 12 traffic accidents daily on federal highways. State coordinator Ricardo Meléndrez Cervantes noted that most incidents occur on the Mexico-Querétaro highway, specifically on the stretch between San Juan del Río and Pedro Escobedo, which sees approximately 130,000 vehicles per day.

To mitigate these risks, the corporation utilizes operations such as ‘Carrusel’ and ‘Radar’ to regulate speed, alongside ‘Caballero del Camino’ to assist drivers with mechanical failures. Additionally, the National Guard has reported a reduction in cargo theft of over 40 percent in the Querétaro section compared to the previous year.

A recent fatal incident occurred in the El Marqués municipality at the El Carmen community, where a pedestrian was struck and killed while attempting to cross the Mexico-Querétaro highway. The accident caused significant traffic congestion toward Querétaro, prompting authorities to urge drivers to maintain speed limits and avoid distractions.
