Guardia Sanframondi hosts Vinalia wine festival on community ties

From 4 to 10 August, the historic centre of Guardia Sanframondi in Campania will hold the 33rd edition of Vinalia, a week‑long enogastronomic festival. The event, sponsored by the Region of Campania, the Province of Benevento, the municipality and the Irpinia‑Sannio Chamber of Commerce, adopts the theme “Support – the meaning of the vine for connections”. Organiser Titina Pigna explains that the vine’s need for a trellis mirrors humanity’s reliance on family, community and cooperation.

The programme features tastings and tours at local wineries, including Cantina la Guardiense – Janare, Cantina di Solopaca, Bicu de Fremundi and Vigne Storte. Vigne Storte, a family‑run estate with 14 hectares owned and 15 hectares leased, produces about 70,000 bottles annually. Enologist Massimiliano Garofano oversees sustainable practices, such as a photovoltaic system on the cellar roof, and a focus on preserving the fruit’s character. The festival will also showcase regional foods such as cheeses, cured meats, honey, pastries and street‑food stalls.
