Brazil environmental initiatives launch cleanup and education campaigns

Various environmental initiatives and cleanup campaigns are being organized across Brazil to promote ocean preservation and waste management. In Pernambuco, the Guardiãs do Mar project is preparing special programming for Beach Cleaning Day 2026, focusing on environmental education, community mobilization, and the transformation of waste into art. Supported by Indorama Ventures, the initiative aims to encourage circular economy practices.

In Belém, the World Cleanup Day is being marked by waste collection drives involving approximately 100 state schools and an amateur photography contest organized by the Limpa Brasil Institute. Similarly, in Paraná, the Olha o Clima, Litoral! project, in partnership with Petrobras, is mobilizing volunteers across five municipalities to clean beaches and mangroves.

Other regional efforts include Manaus, where the municipal government is intensifying cleaning operations along the Negro River during the dry season to remove accumulated waste, and Florianópolis, where the Limpeza dos Mares project recently concluded an educational cycle for 5,000 students regarding the impact of microplastics and marine debris.
