Guarne authorities rescue eight puppies from alleged fake veterinarian

Authorities in Guarne, Colombia, rescued eight puppies, aged between three and six months, during an operation targeting the illegal practice of veterinary medicine. The animals were found in poor physical condition, exhibiting low body mass and parasitic infections.

The intervention followed a citizen report regarding an individual performing surgical procedures, sterilizations, clinical diagnoses, and X-rays without proper accreditation. During the inspection, officials determined that the credentials presented by the individual were allegedly falsified. The suspect was also wearing a uniform featuring the University of Antioquia logo, which may have been used to imply an institutional affiliation.

The rescued puppies have been transferred to the Guarne Animal Welfare Center, where they are receiving professional medical assessment and specialized care for their recovery.
