Guarujá bus strike ends after food voucher payment promised

Public bus services in Guarujá, São Paulo, were temporarily paralyzed on Tuesday morning due to a strike by approximately 700 employees of City Transportes. The workers, represented by the Santos Road Transport Workers Union (Sindrod), initiated a total stoppage because of delays in food voucher payments, which were due on the 25th.

The strike caused significant disruption for residents, leading to crowded bus stops throughout the city. Operations resumed around 9:00 AM after the company promised to deposit the overdue benefits.

According to Sindrod Vice President José Alberto Torres Simões, the company frequently delays salaries and benefits, often citing a lack of funds transferred by the municipal government. Representatives from both the City Transportes concessionaire and the Guarujá City Hall met with workers to discuss the recurring payment issues and ensure the immediate resumption of services.
