Guarujá man arrested for attempted rape of a minor at beach

A 53-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of attempted rape of a vulnerable minor at Praia da Enseada in Guarujá, São Paulo. The incident occurred while the child's father was distracted playing soccer on the beach.

A witness observed the suspect leading the boy to a secluded area under a beach deck and recorded the interaction on video. The footage reportedly shows the man with his shorts partially open. Following the observation, the witness alerted the Military Police, who later located and detained the suspect on Avenida Tancredo Neves.

The suspect, who is known to the family, has denied all allegations of sexual misconduct. He claimed he was merely accompanying the child to a private spot to urinate and suggested the situation was misinterpreted by bystanders. However, the child's father reported that the boy claimed the man exposed his genitals. The Civil Police stated there are indications of authorship and materiality regarding the crime, and the suspect has been transferred to a public prison.
