Guarujá to implement tourist vehicle environmental fee in 2027
The City of Guarujá has confirmed that the Environmental Preservation Fee (TPA) for tourist vehicles is expected to begin in 2027. Preliminary technical studies have been completed, and the municipality plans to publish a bidding notice later this year to select a concessionaire to manage the operation.
The fee will be charged daily based on the vehicle's length of stay, capped at 15 days per vehicle per month. Rates are calculated using the Guarujá Fiscal Unit (UFG). Based on 2026 projections, motorcycles will pay R$ 7.29, passenger vehicles up to 8 seats R$ 19.44, vans and pickups R$ 38.88, micro-buses R$ 97.20, and buses or trucks up to R$ 145.80.
Local residents are exempt for up to four registered vehicles per household, while seasonal residents with property in the city may register up to two vehicles for exemption. The administration stated the revenue will fund environmental monitors, tourist site cleaning, and efforts to combat predatory tourism.
