Guarulhos Archive Exhibit and MUAFRO Poetry Festival Spotlight August Culture in Brazil
The Municipal Historical Archive of Guarulhos opened a free exhibition in August titled “The Day of Carving and the Festival in Praise of Our Lady of Bonsucesso,” showcasing documents that trace the local tradition of the Festa da Carpição and its connection to the devotion to Nossa Senhora do Bonsucesso.
Meanwhile, the Museu de Artes Afro‑Brasil Rolando Toro (MUAFRO) in Pernambuco commemorated the 66th anniversary of poet Miró da Muribeca with a three‑day “Day of Alegrismo” program. The free event featured poetry readings, music, theater, slam performances, workshops and the launch of a research website on Miró’s work, highlighting the poet’s cultural significance in the state.
