Guarulhos Health Secretariat promotes adolescent care at Basic Health Units

The Guarulhos Health Secretariat is highlighting the importance of Basic Health Units (UBS) in providing comprehensive care for adolescents, defined by the Ministry of Health as individuals aged 10 to 19. Services available at these units include mental health support, nutritional guidance, oral health, sexual health education, and monitoring physical and emotional changes.

A critical component of adolescent care is maintaining up-to-date vaccination records. Key immunizations include HPV, dengue, and meningococcal disease, alongside boosters for hepatitis B, diphtheria, tetanus, yellow fever, and the triple viral vaccine. Data indicates that HPV vaccination coverage among girls aged 9 to 14 reached 94.76%, exceeding the national target, while coverage for boys stood at 83.75%.
