Águas do Alto Alentejo warns of fraudulent water testing visits

Águas do Alto Alentejo has issued an alert regarding fraudulent activities involving individuals posing as technicians to perform free tap water analyses. The company reports receiving accounts of people being contacted by telephone to schedule alleged technical visits for these purported free tests.

The utility company clarified that such procedures do not align with its standard operating methods. Official water quality testing is conducted within the public network by technicians wearing company uniforms and carrying identification cards. In-home testing is only performed following a formal complaint submitted by a customer.

To ensure safety, the company recommends that residents do not allow unidentified individuals into their homes, verify any such requests through official company contact numbers, and immediately alert the GNR (National Republican Guard). The company noted that authorities are aware of the situation and urged citizens to share the warning, particularly with elderly neighbors and family members.
