Guasave coastal areas face erosion from storm surges

Coastal areas in Guasave, Sinaloa, including Las Glorias and Boca del Río, continue to experience significant storm surges. High waves have caused erosion, consuming portions of the beach. While the intensity of the surges has decreased compared to previous days following the influence of Hurricane Polo, waves continue to reach and flood some coastal constructions.

Local residents have reported flooding in the area, though Aurelio Roy Navarrete Cuevas, director of the Sinaloa State Civil Protection Institute, stated that reported damage is primarily limited to the fishing fields of El Caracol and El Huitussi. Authorities have emphasized the importance of using designated temporary shelters if residents become displaced by rising tides.
