Guasave: Elderly woman killed in stabbing by grandson

An elderly woman died following a stabbing attack in the community of Capomas, located in the Estación Bamoa district of Guasave, Sinaloa, on Sunday, August 9.

The victim, identified as Bernardina, was between 94 and 98 years old. According to reports, she was attacked with a kitchen knife by her 35-year-old grandson, identified as Emmanuel Iván. Following the assault, family members transported the victim to an IMSS hospital in Guasave, where she succumbed to her injuries.

Authorities apprehended the suspect at the scene. Family members noted that the man has been diagnosed with schizophrenia, a factor that competent authorities are expected to evaluate during the legal proceedings. The State Attorney General's Office (Fiscalía General del Estado) has been called to collect evidence and integrate the investigation file.
