Guasave faces flooding after heavy rainfall in Sinaloa
Heavy rainfall has impacted the municipality of Guasave, Sinaloa, with some communities recording accumulations of up to 115 millimeters. According to the Asociación de Agricultores del Río Sinaloa Poniente (AARSP), the highest rainfall was recorded in Palos Blancos (115 mm) and Norotillo El Gato (98 mm). Other significant totals were noted in San Rafael (85 mm), Los Hornos-Salsipuedes (82 mm), and La Trinidad (81 mm).
Guasave Mayor Cecilia Ramírez Montoya stated that the municipality is on permanent alert due to rapidly forming storms that saturate drainage systems and cause sudden flooding. Local authorities are utilizing available resources, such as water trucks, to clear flooded streets and neighborhoods. While the rainfall is noted as beneficial for the region, the intensity and speed of the storms present significant logistical challenges for emergency response and prevention efforts.
