Guasave faces healthcare complaints and infrastructure challenges

Guasave is facing several administrative and infrastructural challenges. The State Human Rights Commission (CEDH) reported that the most frequent complaints in the region involve a lack of priority medical care, shortages of medication, and delays in transferring patients to higher-level hospitals. While the Mexican Social Security Institute (IMSS) has been a primary subject of these complaints, officials noted that the institution has reached satisfactory resolutions with most users.

Simultaneously, municipal authorities are addressing significant infrastructure issues. The Director of Public Works, Rael Rivera Castro, stated that many roads have deteriorated to the point where simple pothole repair is no longer effective, describing the damage as “craters” that require full repaving. He noted that current repairs often fail after only a few rains due to fatigued road structures.

Additionally, officials are monitoring a sinkhole on Central Boulevard. While the site remains stable, authorities emphasized the urgent need to divert a local collector to prevent water ingress from expanding the collapse. In response to community needs, Mayor Cecilia Ramírez Montoya has also initiated several public works projects, including the construction of a park in Choipa 2 and a roof structure in La Cofradía, representing a total investment of nearly 5 million pesos.
