Guasave residents report land disputes and military helicopter activity

In Guasave, Sinaloa, residents and representatives of the Movimiento Antorchista have called for government intervention following reports of property dispossession. Dozens of people gathered at the municipal palace to submit a formal request to Mayor Cecilia Ramírez Montoya, seeking legal certainty and the regularization of land in the Colonos Unidos sector. Protesters claim that families who have occupied these lots for over a decade are facing evictions and being stripped of their property.

Simultaneously, the presence of multiple federal helicopters, including those belonging to the Mexican Navy and the Mexican Air Force, caused uncertainty across northern Sinaloa. Residents in Guasave, Juan José Ríos, and Ruiz Cortines reported seeing aircraft flying at low altitudes over populated areas and rural communities.

In Juan José Ríos, the aerial activity prompted a local secondary school to request that parents pick up their children earlier than usual as a precaution. While federal authorities have not officially confirmed the purpose of these flights or any specific security operation, no ground-level violence or confrontations were immediately reported in connection with the maneuvers.
