Guasave, Sinaloa, reports weather damage, accidents, and infrastructure issues

Guasave, Sinaloa, has experienced a series of localized incidents involving weather damage, traffic accidents, and infrastructure concerns.

Strong winds reaching approximately 130 kilometers per hour caused significant damage on September 18, knocking down trees and utility poles. This resulted in power outages across several communities, including La Trinidad, El Burrión, Bamoa, and Ruiz Cortines. Local authorities are working with CFE to restore electricity.

On September 20, three separate traffic accidents were reported. These incidents resulted in one person injured and significant material damage. One accident involved a vehicle overturning on the Guasave-León Fonseca highway, while another involved a motorcycle crash that sent a 23-year-old man to the hospital.

Additionally, local officials are calling for investigations into recent sinkholes appearing in the city. A city council member noted that some sinkholes are occurring in infrastructure completed within the last three years, suggesting potential negligence or poor construction quality in recent public works projects.
