The Unidad de Financiamiento, Transparencia y Fiscalización (UFTF) has issued a punitive resolution against former presidential candidate Salvador Nasralla regarding his 2025 campaign finances. The UFTF identified significant inconsistencies, including the failure to justify and liquidate approximately 73 million lempiras in campaign resources.

Reports indicate the potential fine could exceed 146 million lempiras, calculated by doubling the amount of funds that exceeded legal limits due to a lack of timely notification. The audit also flagged issues concerning advertising, contracts, and deposits made into personal accounts. Nasralla has previously stated that his funds were liquidated and attributed omissions to an “oversight.”

The UFTF report will be forwarded to the Public Ministry and the Attorney General's Office to determine if further legal or criminal responsibilities exist. Meanwhile, UFTF commissioner Ivonne Ardón has denounced the withdrawal of state security protections for the commission members during the presentation of these findings.
