Central American fuel prices fluctuate amid global oil shifts

In Guatemala, gasoline and diesel prices have risen, with premium gasoline reaching GTQ 39.09 per gallon. Authorities attribute the increase to higher international crude prices, logistical costs and exchange‑rate effects, noting the impact on transport costs and household budgets.

In Honduras, the president of the Honduran College of Economists warned that renewed fighting in the Middle East could push oil prices up again, adding pressure to inflation, which fell to 5.83 % in June but remains above the central bank’s target. He highlighted the country's dependence on imported fuels and the potential effect on electricity, transport and food prices.

Meanwhile, Costa Rica announced a reduction in fuel tariffs for August: super‑grade gasoline will drop by 55 colones per litre and diesel by 79 colones, while regular gasoline stays unchanged. The changes are linked to lower global crude prices and a stronger colón, though officials cautioned that future geopolitical events could cause further volatility.
